Jacinta Ashworth – Research Consultant

Jacinta has worked as a researcher in the public and voluntary sectors for over 20 years.

Jacinta has been with Compass since 2003 and in that time has been involved in all stages of research consultancy for a variety of clients. She has designed and implemented the Compass Board Assessment questionnaire for use by charity Trustee Boards wishing to appraise their performance. Jacinta has managed the research process from tailoring the questionnaire to individual organisations’ governance arrangements to presenting the findings and recommendations to enhance board performance. Her clients have included NSPCC, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Citizen’s Advice Bureau and the National Consumer Council. In 2005/06 she managed the design and implementation of a significant piece of policy research for the Royal British Legion about the welfare needs of the ex-Service community; this landmark research has been published. Building on this she has been involved in some smaller studies for the ex-Service charity sector.

From 1992 to 2001 Jacinta worked for BMRB International where she specialised in managing research for the public and not for profit sectors. She gained experience of all the main modes of data collection and sampling techniques, among both consumers and professionals. Her work for central government departments covered human resources, crime, citizenship, racial discrimination, employment, health and benefits, with published reports for the Home Office, the Office of Manpower Economics and the National Lottery Commission. Her experience in the voluntary and charity sector has included both policy-related studies and supporters’ opinion research, with published studies for SCOPE and the British Heart Foundation

Jacinta holds the Market Research Society Diploma, entitling her to full membership of the Market Research Society (MRS) and she is also a member of the Social Research Association (SRA).
